St. Basil (329-379) and St. Gregory Nazianzen (328-389) were friends in the faith and brilliant theologians who championed the Church at a difficult time in history. Their example reminds us of the importance of seeking out friendships that support our faith. Sharing our beliefs and values with others strengthens our own spirits and helps us to grow in virtue. When we encourage each other, pray together and share our love for Jesus, we're drawn into the community of saints in a powerful way.
As a member of a women's prayer group, I'm deeply enriched and energized by every encounter there because our central focus and common interest is our faith. If you're not a part of such a group, consider it and enjoy the fruits of faith-filled friendship like Basil and Gregory.
