Praise the Lord, Jerusalem.-- Psalm 147:12
Mass readings: Romans 9:1-5 / Luke 14:1-6
In today's first reading St. Paul gives us a peek into his soul. He anguished by the fact that the Jews -- his people whom he loves so much -- don't accept Christ. No matter what he says, no matter what he does, he can't force them to do that.
It's not uncommon for a parent or grandparent to feel that way. Catholicism -- which he or she loves so much and which has been such a central part of his or her life -- is brushed aside by a son or daughter, by a grandchild. Yes, you can pray. Yes, you can ''preach'' by your example. But, like St. Paul, you have to accept the fact that this is in God's hands and continue to trust in His goodness and mercy for all His children.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, be with all parents and grandparents who are worried about their family members.
