Christ in Ordinary Time

''So, what do we do now?'' is a phrase you might hear after some big event when all the hoopla has died down. It seems the mood of the disciples in today's Gospel. They've seen the risen Christ, heard the angels, perhaps felt the earthquake (Matthew 28: 2) -- so what next? Peter says he's going fishing and they all come along. Pretty ordinary stuff after all they've experienced. Yet in that ordinariness, they again encounter Christ, Who makes their life once more extraordinary through His simple, loving presence.

For us also, Easter Sunday is over, and Easter Week is coming to an end. As we get on with our usual pursuits, Christ enters into our ordinariness, so that through the everyday events of life we may continue to tell the story of His extraordinary love.

Prayer: Jesus, let me love You more dearly and follow You more nearly, day by day.
