Praise the Lord, my soul.-- Psalm 146:1
Mass readings: Tobit 11:5-17 / Mark 12:35-37
In today's Gospel, Jesus quotes Psalm 110 and says that David, when he wrote it, was ''inspired by the Holy Spirit.'' Likewise, it isn't hard to see the Holy Spirit behind the words of Tobit in today's first reading. At the healing of his eyes, he breaks into a wonderful prayer of praise and thanksgiving for what God has done for him. His words can encourage us to be sure to thank and praise God for the good He's done for us. Today, I praise God for His mercy, for my faith, for my wife and my children, for my job. I praise Him for delivering me from difficult days of sickness, sadness, failure and financial hardship. Let's, with Tobit, ''rejoice and praise God with full voice.''
