Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Mass readings: Acts 17:15,22-18:1 / John 16:12-15
A 15th-century Franciscan missionary, reformer, popular preacher, and peacemaker, St. Bernadine of Siena was known as ''the Apostle of Italy.'' By all accounts he was the greatest preacher of his day, a generous and energetic believer with a special devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. So amazing was his missionary life across Italy that Pope Pius II called Bernardine a second St. Paul. He was well known for his boundless energy and constant joy.
Perhaps the aspect I find most inspiring about this famous Franciscan is that whatever he did, whether preaching, working at a Siena hospital during the plague, or taking care of his elderly aunt, he did so with his whole self, body and soul. He reminds me that what's important is not only what I do, but how I do it.
Prayer: St. Bernadine, pray for me.
